A laterally sealed bearing bush (1) which partially surrounds a shaft (2) and has a full-length longitudinal slot (4) has, in its bore, at least one groove recess (10) extending in the circumferential direction, in which a snap ring (12) is inserted loosely with radial play. The snap ring (12) is pressed in leak-tight fashion by its sliding surface (14) against the curved surface (3) of the shaft (2). To ensure that the sliding surface (14) of the snap ring (12) acts with a uniform contact pressure at the circumference, the snap ring (12) has, at the point on its circumference lying diametrically opposite the longitudinal slot (4), a maximum radial bending resistance torque and, at its two ends, a minimum radial bending resistance torque, the bending resistance torque at the circumference of the snap ring (12) varying from a maximum value to a minimum value in such a way that the sliding surface (14) of the snap ring (12) tightens against the shaft (2) with a uniform contact pressure at the circumference by virtue of the inherent elasticity of the snap ring (12). <IMAGE>
