The present invention relates to an apparatus for moulding refractory products, which comprises a mould of dimensionally stable materials of such softness and/or brittleness that, after moulding, the moulded refractory material can be released without damage. The present invention also relates to a process for producing refractory products in which a mould having the negative contours for the desired structural elements is produced from dimensionally stable materials of adequate softness and/or brittleness, the refractory material is introduced into this mould, the refractory material sets or hardens, is released and subjected to a temperature treatment.
