The hydraulic pump or motor has a rotor (31) with wobble-bar-type drive coupling (30), and a rotary valve with opening (36). The diameter of the bar (30) is greater than that of the opening. The valve can be integral with the rotor, or separate from it, and can have two openings, the bar being of larger diameter than each of them.
