In this gas-filling device for motor vehicles, a compressor unit (2, 3), a gas distributor unit (10, 7, 8, 9, 27, 6, 5) and a control (11) are mounted inside a housing (1), on the outside of which an operating unit (21a, 21b) is mounted. In order for private individuals to fill motor vehicles, a concept has been developed in which at least one temperature sensor (22) and one pressure sensor (16) supply measured values to a control unit (20) which is provided with reference values adapted in accordance with the changing ambient and operating conditions, a control (11) having switching means and signal transmitters which, in the event of the deviation of actual values from their reference values, changes the operating state of the gas filling device. The operating states are selected in such a way that in the event of serious incorrect handling and failure of components the device itself locks and can only be made operational again with auxiliary devices. The deciding factor for the use by private individuals is the constant automatic correction of the reference values for the admissible deviations of the thermodynamic state variables during the filling process which, in combination with other safety measures, makes the direct presence next to the device unnecessary and, e.g. permits unmonitored filling overnight by the user. …<IMAGE>… |
