PURPOSE:To provide a feeding-stimulating substance having a function of stimulating the taste and smell of shellfish to increase the appetite thereof, heightening the efficiency of a feed when cultured or the efficiency of an alternate feed and promoting the growth of the shellfish by containing three kinds of specific compounds. CONSTITUTION:One kind or more of compounds of formula I (n is 0<=n<=20; R1 and R2 are H, O, halogen, saturated hydrocarbon, etc.; X<-> is monovalent anion), formula II [R3 is basically-(CH2)n- whose one or more carbon side chains may be combined with groups like the R1 and R2, etc.], formula III (R4 is the same as R1 or R2) and formula IV (R5-R8 is the same as R1) and salts thereof (but excluding dimethyl sulfide, etc.) are added as a feeding-stimulating substance in an amount of 10<-10>-10<-1>M to a base feed such as a synthetic feed, semi- natural feed, etc. The substance permits to maintain even the efficiency of the alternate feed at the same level as that of a formula feed containing a raw bait, etc. The substance has the effect for all shellfish such as turban shells, abalones and oysters. |
