PURPOSE:To steadily maintain the forming function and drying function of purge gas by supplying inert air to a fuel cell for gas replacement when a system is discontinued, and conducting heat exchange with a high temperature coolant after start of reoperation to reduce an oxidizing catalyst and to regenerate a dehumidifying agent by heating. CONSTITUTION:When a system is constantly operated, reaction gases are supplied to a fuel cell 1 through gas supply lines 3, 5, and heat generated by power generation in a fuel cell 1 is radiated with a heat radiator 6. When operation is discontinued, inert, dry air treated with an oxygen remover 12 filled with an oxidizing catalyst and a dehumidifier 13 is supplied as purge gas to the cell 1 for gas replacement. After start ot reoperation, heat exchange is conducted with a high temperature coolant flowing through the remover 12, the dehumidifier 13, and a cooling line 9, and part of fuel gas extracted from a reaction line is introduced into the remover 12 to reduce the catalyst with hydrogen and to regenerate a defumidifying agent by heating. The forming function and drying function of purge gas are steadily maintained. |
