PURPOSE:To attain the determination of a fault point by feeding power to an optical submarine repeater just before the faulty point even when the optical submarine cable has an open fault so as to activate a monitoring function. CONSTITUTION:When the submarine cable 1 is broken at a point C and opened, a current is made flow from a station A to a relay driving line 7. The current is branched by a resistor 20 and a diode 8 in an optical submarine repeater 2 and a part of the current flows to a relay circuit 17 in the optical submarine repeater 3, and when the current (i) reaches the minimum activating current of the relay circuit 17 or above its contact 23 is closed. Thus, a feeder 5 and a feeder return 6 are connected through the contact 23 and a feeding current I flows thereto, then the faulty point evaluation function in the optical submarine repeaters 2, 3 is activated. Thus, even when the optical submarine cable has an open fault, the power feeding to the optical submarine repeater just before the faulty point is attained and the faulty point is determined. |
