PURPOSE:To obtain the title refractories in which structural spalling is hard to occur and useful for the lining of a vessel of molten metal by adding a binder of a silica sol to a refractory green body of which specific amounts of carbonaceous material and SiC are added to refractory material consisting essentially of magnesian refractory material. CONSTITUTION:A binder of a silica sol, 0.2 to 2 pts.wt. in the conversion into SiO2, is added to 100 pts.wt. refractory green body of which 2 to 8wt.% carbonaceous material selected suitably from pitch, tar, graphite, coke, etc., according to the using place of refractories, and 3 to 12% SiC having <=200mu grain size are added to refractory material consisting essentially of magnesian refractory material. |
