An electric motor (21) is disclosed having clutch means (22) which is formed of a magnetic material. When winding means (44) wound on a core (45) of the motor is energised, the core is electrically magnetised and attracts the clutch means for electromagnetic coupling so that the core and the clutch means may be rotated in the combined condition to operate a driven member drivingly connected with the clutch means. Upon de-energisation of the winding means, the clutch means may be rotated separately from the core to permit movement of the driven member by easy manual operation independent of the core. Either the clutch or the core and shaft assembly may move relative to the housing and a spring 52 may be provided to assist disengagement.
