Class 144 (2).- In a tyre constructed in accordance with the parent Specification, the marginal tread reinforcing bands 8 of steel or natural or synthetic textile cords are incorporated in detachable tread rings 4, 6 which seat in circumferential grooves in the casing and may flank either a central detachable tread ring 5, Fig. 1, or a tread rib 9, Fig. 2, integral with the casing 1. All the detachable tread rings 4, 5, 6 may have an inner peripheral circumferentially inextensible reinforcement 7 of parallel cords for retention of the rings on the casing, but only the marginal rings 4, 6 have the reinforcing bands 8 which overlie the reinforcement 7. The bands 8 may be two or more separate superposed layers of cords, or as shown in Fig. 2, may comprise a strip of cords folded circumferentially to provide two layers.
