Class 52(2) In a reclining chair having upright, semireclined and fully reclined positions a back rest 22 and seat 24 are pivotally connected by a link 28 and the seat 24 is connected to the chair frame by linkage including links 34, 38 pivotally connected at 40, a leg rest 26 being supported by a linkage including a carrier link 70 pivoted to the chair frame and being operated by links 88, 92, 96, link 88 being pivoted at 90 to the frame to form a lever. During the movement from upright to semi-reclined position the lower ends of links 34, 38 rest on frame cross brace 16 but during the movement to fully reclined position a stop 62 on link 54 engages link 38 and causes the linkage to pivot about the connection 36 of link 34 to the chair frame, at the same time link 46 of the back rest engages a stop 64. |
