PURPOSE:To facilitate the searching of a disorder point, the measuring of a loss and the like of a long-sized optical fiber by arranging an optical fiber type connector between a light directional connector and an optical fiber to be measured and an optical fiber amplifier built by doping a rare earth element at an optical core part. CONSTITUTION:A light source 2 is excited by an electric pulse from an electric pulse generator 1 to generate an optical pulse, which passes through an optical fiber 13 to be incident into an optical fiber type connector 10 via a ultrasonic waveform light directional connector 3. An optical fiber amplifier 11 is formed by doping an rare earth element at a core section and excited using a light source 12. The optical pulse amplified by an optical fiber amplifying section 14 propagates through an optical fiber 4 to be measured, a Rayleigh's backward scattering component returns to an incident end of an optical fiber 4 and ampli fied with the optical fiber amplifying section 14 to be incident into the direc tional connector 3. Here, a drive circuit 9 for the directional connector is turned ON and the scattering light is introduced to a photo detector 5 by a Bragg's diffraction. Moreover, SIN is improve with a signal processing section 7 via an amplifier 5 to be displaced on a display section 8. |
