PURPOSE:To make it possible to rapidly process the subject material, and to improve the latent image stability and the processing stability and the sensitivity over a broad exposure region of the photosensitive material by incorporating a specified silver halide emulsion and a specified 5-pyrazolone type magenta coupler in the photosensitive layer contg. in the photosensitive material, respectively. CONSTITUTION:The photosensitive layer contains at least one kind of a 5-pyrazolone coupler having a releasable group shown by formula I at the coupling position of a pyrazolone nucleus, and >=90mol% of silver chloride. And, the photosensitive layer contains a silver halide particle which does not substantially contain silver iodide, and the silver halide particle is prepared in the presence of an iridium compd. and has a localized phase having silver bromide content of more than 20mol%. The localized phase is deposited on the silver halide particle together with at least 50% of the total amount of iridium added at the time of preparing the silver halide particle, and the surface of the silver halide particle is chemically sensitized in such extent that the particle is substantially composed of a surface latent image type.
