PURPOSE:A bath preparation that contains spilanthol that has a pungent taste with strong narcosism and shows sedative and astringent actions on human skins, thus strengthening bathing effect with refreshness and relieving a variety of muscle pains. CONSTITUTION:An annual plant in Chrysanthemum originating from South America, KIBANA ORANDA SENNICHI or ORANDA SENNICHI (Spilanthes acmella) is dried and the whole plant bodies or floral parts are directly or after crushed, extracted with an organic solvent such as alcohol or acetone. The extract is concentrated by evaporation of solvent to give a 5-10% concentrate, which is purified by, e.g., molecular distillation to give a purified concentrate of 20-40% spilanthol content (pale yellow oil). The objective bath preparation contains 0.1-1% of the purified concentrate. |
