PURPOSE:To provide a printer which is inexpensive and in which a platen unit can be easily replaced, by constituting the platen unit of a carrier capable of freely moving in accordance with the movement of a printing head and a cylinder provided on the carrier so that it can be freely rotated correspondingly to the head. CONSTITUTION:A platen unit moving shaft 9 is placed at a position opposed to a printing head moving shaft 3 through a paper. A gear 8 is interlocked with a gear 6 through a gear 7, and when the printing head 1 is moved by rotating the shaft 3, the platen unit 10 on the shaft 9 is moved while maintaining the opposed positional relationship with the head 1 synchronously with the head 1. A bevel gear 10-1 and a shaft therefor together with a frame body 10-4 constitute the carrier for the cylinder 10-3, and when the platen unit 10 is moved sideways, the cylinder 10-3 is rotated by the bevel gear 10-1 with the shaft of the gear as a center. |
