<p>PURPOSE:To obtain the titled optically active compound useful as an intermediate for pharmaceuticals such as prostaglandin, etc., from an easily available raw material in high optical yield in high efficiency, by carrying out the optical resolution of 4-hydroxy-2-cyclopentene compound utilizing the asymmetry- recognizing capability of a polysaccharide derivative. CONSTITUTION:The compound of formula I [R is H or protective group (e.g. SiR1R2R3, a group forming acetal bond together with O of OH, or acyl); R1-R3 are 1-7C hydrocarbon group or alkoxy] is subjected to optical resolution using a polysaccharide derivative, preferably cellulose triphenylcarbamate, cellulose tris-p-tolylcarbamate, xylan diphenylcarbamate, chitosan triphenyl-carbamate, cellulose triacetate, cellulose tribenzoate or curdlan triphenylcarbamate. The objective compound of formula (* is asymmetric carbon atom having induced optical activity which can be used as an intermediate of the above drug can be produced in high yield and efficiency by this process.</p> |
