PURPOSE:To obtain continuous electrostatic charging characteristics in the axial direction where the influence of the fatigue of a photosensitive drum is not exerted by arranging an electrostatic charging voltage measuring instrument movably in the axial direction of the photosensitive drum. CONSTITUTION:The photosensitive drum (a) set upright on a moving device 1 is stopped at a stop point by moving the device 1. Then, drum positioning jigs 2 and 2' above it are descended and the upper part of the drum (a) is supported and fixed. Then annular fitting bases 3, 6, and 9 are moved down and an erasure lamp 4 is also moves in the axial direction of the drum (a) to a remove electrostatic charges from the drum surface. Then the bases 3, 6, and 9 are moved in the axial direction of the drum (a) and an electrostatic charger 7 mounted on the bases 3, 6, and 9 is also moved in the axial direction of the drum (a) to charge the drum surface electrostatically. Further, the bases 3, 6, and 9 are moved in the axial direction of the drum (a) and a potential detection part 10 and a photoelectric device 11 are moved in the axial direction of the drum (a) at the same time in parallel to perform nonexposure or exposure operation, thereby measuring the surface potential of the drum (a). |
