PURPOSE:To throttle the ion current discharge from an ion lead-out region, to enhance resolving power and to perform high density recording by controlling an ion lead-out direction according to the control region provided to an insulating member. CONSTITUTION:High frequency high voltage is applied between a drive electrode 3 and a screen electrode 8 from an AC power supply 17 and pulse voltage is selectively applied to a control electrode 4 corresponding to an image signal from an ion control power supply 18. Creepage corona discharge R is generated at an aperture part 5 by the potential difference between the drive electrode 3, to which voltage is selectively applied, and the control electrode 4 and the ion I generated by said corona discharge is accelerated or absorbed by the electric field selectively formed between the control electrode 4 and the screen electrode 8 and an ion current S is discharged from the aperture part of the electrode 8 under control to form the electrostatic latent image corresponding to the image signal on a dielectric drum 11. At this time, an insulating member 14 is provided on the ion lead-out side of the electrode 8 and an aperture part 15 is bored in said member 14. Therefore, the discharge direction of the ion current S is described by the inner wall of the aperture part 15 and said current is discharged without spreading. |
