The image pickup section includes an image pickup element for converting an optical image into an analog image signal. The image pickup section also includes an analog-to-digital converter for converting the analog image signal into digital image signals which are stored in a digital memory within the image pickup section. The detachable recording section includes a digital-to-analog converter for converting the digital signal output from the image pickup section into an analog signal which is recorded in an analog memory within the recording section.
