PURPOSE: To obtain a mechanism for turning a polyhedral unit containing a liquid to a desired position and stopping the unit at that position so that it can be released by providing a turnable and temporarily stoppable support for a gel plate assembly. CONSTITUTION: The stop mechanism comprises a base 22, a vertical post 24, two clamshells 26, 28 mounted on the opposite sides of the post 24, and supporting rails 29, 30 providing surfaces for supporting a gel plate assembly 40. The clamshells 26, 28 are mounted rotatably on the post 24 through a bush carried on the upper end of the post 24. A stop mechanism 170 can lock the clamshells 26, 28 so that they can be released. The mechanism 170 comprises a stop plate having a plurality of teeth on the periphery thereof and bonded to the base 22, and means to be engaged between two arbitrary adjacent teeth. The engaging means has a member extending downward and it can operate directly or indirectly through a two position push latch located on the support. |
