PURPOSE: To improve many properties in particular of a polyacrylamide gel by containing polyol of substantially high concentration. CONSTITUTION: Concentration of polyol is in the range of 20-80% (W/V), preferably in the range of 25-60% (W/V). It is calculated from the weight of polyol with reference to the total volume of a gel not yet polymerized. An easily water soluble or mixable polyol is preferably employed. Preferable polyol contains branched or unbranched aliphatic polyol having 2-8, preferably 2-6, carbon atoms and at least two hydroxy groups. Monosaccharide and oligosaccharide in particular a disaccharide, e.g. saccharose and a derivative thereof, having structure identical to that of pentose and hexose is preferable. Most important pentose and hexose contains xylose, glucose and fructose. Sugar alcohol, e.g. sorbitol or xylytol, is also preferable. |
