Anti-skid chain chains are mounted on vehicle tires and removed threrefrom with the aid of a tool (20) comprising an L-shaped rod (22,23) having a handle (24) at one end and a plate (25) at the other. The plate (26) terminates in a pair of fulcrum portions (28,29) either of which may be used to engage under the wheel rim. The plate (25) has, spaced from the fulcrum portions, a hole (30) for engaging a headed pin on a hook on the chain. Alternatively, a chain-engaging hook may be pivotted to the plate. Where the wheel rim flange does not end in a part directed towards the wheel axis, a ring of U-shaped cross section (with its opening facing the wheel axis) may be held against the wheel rim flange by clips, extending under the tire bead, to provide securing fixing for the chain hooks and location for the fulcrum (28 or 29). |
