PURPOSE: To improve graininess by using a recording material contg. an image dye forming coupler compd., a development inhibitor releasing compd., a compd. capable of imagewise releasing soluble mercaptan and a compd. capable of imagewise releasing a specified electron transferring agent. CONSTITUTION: A compd. capable of imagewise releasing a 1-aryl-3pyralidinone compd. as an electron transferring agent represented by formula I or II is incorporated into a photographic recording material with a photosensitive silver halide emulsion layer contg. an image dye forming coupler compd., a development inhibitor releasing compe. and a compd. capable of imagewise releasing soluble mercaptan. In the formulae, R<1> is H, each of R<2> and R<3> is H, 1 to about 8C alkyl, carbamoyl or 6 to about 10C aryl, each of R<4> and R<5> is H, 1 to about 8C alkyl or 6 to about 10C aryl and R<6> is halogen, 1 to about 8C alkyl, alkoxy or sulfonamido.
