PURPOSE:To eliminate uneasiness and an unpleasant feeling due to strange sound of a oscillator from a user by intermittently operating a sensor which detects the presence or absence of toner, responding to printing action. CONSTITUTION:When a controlling part 20 receives printed data immediately before the start of printing action with respect to the oscillator 12 of a sensor circuit 14, a switch is turned off by temporarily making a control signal CS into 'H' and a power source circuit 18 supplies driving voltage E0. Thus, by operating the oscillator 12 and the sensor circuit 14 in a short time, the presence or absence of the toner is decided by means of fetching a presence or absence of the toner detecting signal TS form the circuit 14. Even when a power source switch is turned on, the controlling part 20 turns on the switch 16 by making the control signal CS into 'L' during other time, and the controlling part 20 does not operate the oscillator 12 and the circuit 14. Consequently, even when the toner is on the edge of running short, the oscillator 12 responds to the printing action and intermittently oscillates in a short time. |
