The invention relates to a plastic dental prosthesis having a core-and-shell structure. The dental prosthesis according to the invention consists of: A) a plastic shell 1 which contains 10-90 % by weight of highly dispersed silicon dioxide with a particle size of 0.01-0.4 mu m, and B) a plastic core 2 which contains 30-90 % by weight of an inorganic filler mixture consisting of 60-100 % by weight of barium aluminosilicate glass with an average particle size of 0.7-10 mu m and 0-40 % by weight of highly dispersed silicon dioxide with an average particle size of 0.01-0.4 mu m. The plastic of A and B is a polymer of esters of acrylic and/or methacrylic acid and of dihydric or polyhydric alcohols or mixtures thereof. Applications: temporary and semi-permanent or permanent installation of crowns and bridges, fitting of inlays, etc. <IMAGE>
