PURPOSE:To shorten the printing time of a page having little printing data by accelerating the rotation of a printing drum on a part of a layer having no printing data when the drum is rotated. CONSTITUTION:A light emission instruction of a light emitting controller 15 by a video signal from a raster buffer 10 is synchronized with the drive of a motor 13 of a printing drum 12 from a print start controller 11. In this case, layer managing information from the controller 11 is transmitted to a layer manager 17 provided in an engine controller 14. The presence or absence of printing data of the layer of a layer managing memory 16 is monitored by the manager 17, the presence of absence of the printing data of next layer is checked, and if no printing data exists on the next layer, when the layer is connected to printing, the speed of the motor is set to n-times (where (n) is a real number larger than '1') through a motor speed controller 18 provided in the controller 14 to feed a sheet at a high speed, and then next layer is sequentially continuously checked similarly. |
