In an electronic coordinate measuring stylus, signals which correspond to a deflection of the touch element in the stylus axial direction are obtained by fastening the touch element on a carrier, mounted on a universal joint in a housing, on a slide guided displaceably in the stylus axial direction, and by coupling to the slide a position transmitter element responding to the displacement of the slide in the stylus axial direction, the position transmitter element being opposite a detector element mounted on the carrier or on the housing.
