The invention relates to a travel data memory which has a battery-buffered real-time clock and a sensor which supplies digital, displacement-proportional pulses and is connected to the tachometer of a motor vehicle. In contrast with conventional trip recorders, this travel data memory stores the event data in binary form and said data can only be evaluated and expressed in plain text by means of an external computer with corresponding adaptor and software.
