A shaft-sealing system for sealing off rotating shafts with alternating and at times high speeds of revolution and alternating and at times high pressure loading by the sealing medium consists of two lip-sealing rings arranged axially in series and of a supporting ring arranged between them. The outer air-side lip-sealing ring forms a protection ring against the penetration of dust from outside while the inner lip-sealing ring provides a seal relative to the sealing medium as the actual sealing ring, the axial limb of the supporting ring forming a support which protects the sealing lip of the inner lip-sealing ring from a deformation due to high pressure loading. The housing ring of the outer lip-sealing ring at the same time forms a stepped cylindrical receptacle into which the supporting ring and the inner lip-sealing ring are inserted with a press fit to form a centred, rotationally coupled installation unit. <IMAGE>
