<p>A support and maneuvering apparatus (10) for a solar energy concentrating device (12) includes a frame (20) for mounting the perimeter of the concentrating device (12). A support member (27) extends along the central axis of the concentrating device (12) and has a base end (30) passing through the center of the concentrating device (12) and an outer distal end (28) for carrying a solar energy receiving and conversion mechanism (16). A variable tension mechanism (32) interconnects the support member (27) with the frame (20) to provide stiffening for the support member (27) and the frame (20). Connecting members (34) extend from a rotatable base (28) for pivotable attachment to the frame (20). An elevation assembly (50) is connected to the concentrating device (12) for selectively pivoting the concentrating device (12).</p> |
