PURPOSE:To omit a fan motor and rotate a fan continuously, irrespective of whether a printer is operating or waiting, by providing a motion transmitting mechanism for transmitting a rotational motion of a paper-feeding motor to the fan to operate the fan, a switching means for switching ON and OFF the transmission of the rotational motion of the motor to a platen, and a controlling part for operating the switching means. CONSTITUTION:A printer device comprises a fan 1, by which heat generated in the device is discharged to the exterior of the device. The fan 1 is rotated by transmitting a rotational motion of a paper-feeding motor 2 to the fan 1 through a motion transmitting mechanism 3. A controlling part 4 sends a signal to a switching means 5, which switches ON and OFF the transmission of the rotational motion of the motor 2 to a platen 7. When the printer device is waiting, the motor 2 is rotated, but the platen 7 is not rotated because the switching means 2 is in an OFF condition. On the other hand, the fan 1 is rotated by the rotation of the motor 2. During the operation of the printer device, the rotational motion of the motor 2 is transmitted to the platen 7 when the switching means 5 is set into an ON condition, while the fan 1 is also rotated. |
