PURPOSE:To prevent transferred image density from being lowered upon multi-time printing and prevent the surface of a layer contributive to transfer of a dye, of an ink layer, from being fused to an image-receiving layer at the time of thermal transfer, with the result of a loss, by a construction wherein the layer contributive to transfer of the dye comprises a reaction product of an isocyanate with an active hydrogen- containing compound as an organic binder resin. CONSTITUTION:A sublimation-type thermal transfer medium comprises a dye-supplying layer comprising a sublimable dye dispersed in an organic binder and a layer contributive to transfer of the dye, which layers are provided on a base in that order form the base side, and the contributive layer comprises a reaction product of an isocyanate with an active hydrogen-containing compound as an organic binder resin. With this construction, the surface characteristics of the contributive layer are improved, and the contributive layer is prevented from being used to an image-receiving material at the time of thermal transfer. A resin obtained by crosslinking an active hydrogen- containing high molecular weight compound by an isocyanate is a resin having excellent heat resistance and mechanical strength, so that when the resin is used as the binder resin in the contributive layer, it is possible to overcome the above-mentioned drawback. |
