Chain-shortening device

In order to create a chain-shortening device consisting of a shaped part which can be fastened to a chain and has a receiving pocket for a chain link orientated parallel to the plane of the shaped part, which chain-shortening device is easy to mount subsequently without effort at any point of the chain and can be conveniently utilised, it is proposed that the shaped part (2) have one pocket (3) each at both ends. The pockets (3) are directed towards one another in mirror image and have one longitudinal slot (4) each, a leaf spring (7), designed as a double leg spring, being arranged in such a way as to extend roughly over the entire length of the shaped part (2) and project into the slots (4) with catch projections (8) integrally formed on its two ends and being shaped into a bearing eye (9) approximately at the centre of its longitudinal extent. A pin (10) held in the shaped part (2) passes through the bearing eye (9). <IMAGE>
