PURPOSE:To enable efficient and facilitated extraction of a pigment in a large amount by culturing a microorganism of the genus Janthinobacterium in a culture medium containing a polyurethane foam, etc., as an adsorption carrier added thereto. CONSTITUTION:(A) An adsorption carrier is obtained by selection from a polyurethane foam having a polyoxyethylene structure or cellulose, such as gauze, without any ion exchange group. A microorganism of the genus Janthinobacterium is then cultured in a culture medium at pH 6-8 containing peptone, etc., at 20-30 deg.C for about 2 days to provide a preculture, which is then inoculated into a culture medium containing 10-40g component (A) added to 1l culture medium at pH 6-8 containing mannitol, bovine heart leachate, etc., and aerobically and normally cultured at 20-30 deg.C for 6-10 days to afford (B) a culture. The component (A) is then separated from the component (B), washed with water, dried and extracted with an organic solvent, such as ethanol, to recover a pigment produced by the microorganism. |
