PURPOSE:To improve the initial characteristic by irradiating an image carrier, which is coated with organic photoconductor electrified positively, with light having the area of a wavelength by which the image carrier gets fatigued, prior to forming an image. CONSTITUTION:The periphery of a photosensitive drum 1 is coated with the organic photoconductor and by means of a neon lamp 25 the periphery is first irradiated with blue light having a short wavelength at the time of forming an image. It is then electrified by an electrifying charger 2, the electrified periphery is irradiated with information light via an optical element 3, thereby forming an electrostatic latent image. Prior to copying, by means of the neon lamp 25 the photosensitive drum 1 is irradiated with the light having the wavelength by which the drum 1 get easily fatigued. This prevents rise in electric potential of a black base and a satisfactory image can be obtained from the beginning with no sacrifice in an initial copying time. |
