PURPOSE:To improve the process speed for the correction of position, by providing a storage process exclusively used for position information. CONSTITUTION:A picture signal Sm is read from an original picture. This picture signal Sm is stored in a picture memory 12 as it is to be sent to a group discriminator 13. The discriminator 13 is provided with memory having a small capacity, the picture signal is split into groups having nearly 8X8-16X16-bits for instance and the discriminator 13 discriminates the presence/absence of data at every group (when two-three consecutive picture element bits are available, the presence of data is recognized). The result of discrimination is stored in a position memory 14. A position relating discriminator 15 discriminates the relation of position of the original picture (longitudinal, lateral writing, slope of original etc.) based on the content of the memory 14. Based on the result of discrimination, a corrector 18 corrects data stored in the memory 12 (for correction of slope and position) to obtain the corrected picture signal Sm. |
