The invention relates to a device for clamping a linearly displaceable subassembly in a guiding subassembly, usable in machine tools for stopping non-moving shafts during the working process. It is the aim of the invention to obtain high clamping forces and great transmission rigidities at the clamping point with a small source of force and without transmission members, and also to compensate for assembly and guiding errors. The clamping jaws 18, which move in opposite directions on a clamping spindle, for bilateral clamping are centrally received with play, guided loosely between stops 14, 15, 16, 17 and have three clamping wedges 20, 21. The wedge surfaces of two clamping wedges 20 run along the guiding direction and correspond with a wedge-shaped clamping groove 8 in the linearly displaceable subassembly 6. The third clamping wedge 21, centrally offset on the opposite side, has wedge surfaces transversely with respect to the guiding direction and is coarsely fixed in prismatic grooves 9, running at right angles to the clamping grooves 8, in the guiding subassembly 1. During the clamping process, firstly the clamping wedges 20, 21 centre themselves positively in the clamping and prismatic grooves 8, 9. Subsequently, their wedge action leads to a non-positive clamping. <IMAGE> |
