Electromotor auxiliary drive for bicycles

In bicycles having an electromotor auxiliary drive, the problem exists that the capacity of a battery of a size which can be carried is quickly exhausted. The object thus exists of providing an electromotive drive which can be switched on, permits a large radius of action given a specified battery capacity, has a simple construction and can be controlled by means of non-complex circuitry. The object is achieved in that the electric motor has shut characteristics and can be controlled via current-eliminating circuitry and in that the step-down gear is of a two-stage design with at least one multiple-thread worm gear having a large lead, and acts directly on the pedal shaft via at least one freewheel clutch.
