PURPOSE:To generate a waveform equalizing function in a head itself and to reduce the number of components and power consumption by using plural element magnetic heads with the same head width, arranging those heads keeping a prescribed interval in a tracking direction, and synthesizing signals obtained by the heads. CONSTITUTION:For example, four element magnetic heads 1a, 1b, 1c, and 1d having the same head width W are arranged in the tracking direction of a magnetic recording medium 9 as separating them with the prescribed interval S. By employing such structure, the output signal of each head can be increased uniformly even when the head comes off a little from a track, which decreases fluctuation for off-track. In other words, a delay time S/V relatively between the heads assuming relative speed between the head and a medium as V can be obtained, and the minimum cycle Tw goes to Tw=lambda/V assuming the minimum recording wavelength as lambda, and the delay time T goes to T=Tw/2 assuming the interval S as 1/2 of the wavelength lambda, therefore, a function as a transversal filter can be obtained. |
