INK COMPOSITION AND ITS PRODUCTION

PURPOSE:To obtain an ink composition which can be easily produced and is useful for the production of a thermal transfer sheet which can give a high- quality transferred image by dispersing particles formed by integrating a wax with a pigment and a thermoplastic resin in an aqueous medium. CONSTITUTION:The title ink composition for forming an ink layer of a thermal transfer sheet is formed by dispersing particles formed by integrating a wax with a pigment and a thermoplastic resin in an aqueous medium. This composition is prepared by melt-mixing a wax with a pigment and a thermoplastic resin or mixing them by dissolving in a hydrophilic organic solvent and dispersing the mixture in an aqueous medium. The mixing ratio among the components of the ink composition is preferably such that 5-100 pts.wt. pigment and 5-1000 pts.wt. thermoplastic resin are present per 100 pts.wt. wax.
