PURPOSE:To improve charging efficiency by comprising a lead-copper alloy layer which contains copper by a specified amount on the surface of a grid body for a negative electrode made of lead-calcium type alloy. CONSTITUTION:The surface of a grid body for a negative electrode made of lead-calcium type alloy comprises lead-copper alloy layer which contains copper by 0.001-1.0% in weight. For example, a casting plate (10mm thickness, 70mm width) of lead 0.07% in weight, calcium 90.25%, in weight and tin is produced by a continuous casting system, passing a multistep rolling roller to process it in a sheet of 1mm thickness for producing grid material. While an alloy foil (0.1mm thickness, 70mm width) of lead 0.5% in weight and copper is prepared, laminated on the casting plate thereof, and subjected to passing of a rolling roller, both are pressed together in a clad solid, which is processed so as to expand for producing electrode plates painted by paste of active material and dried. Charging efficiency can therefore be improved in a battery system comprising a grid body of alloy which does not contain antimony. |
