PRODUCTION OF ZIRCONIA BASED REFRACTORY HEATING ELEMENT

PURPOSE:To readily obtain a zirconia based refractory heating element having excellent exothermic characteristics by turning on electricity or induction heat characteristics and thermal shock resistance by laminating a flexible refractory sheet reinforced by zirconia fiber and used as a raw material in roll form or stepwise form and burning the flexible refractory sheet. CONSTITUTION:A zirconia based refractory heat element generated by turning on electricity or induction heating is formed by the following method: 100 pts.wt. aggregate consisting of 5-80 pts.wt. zirconia fiber and 20-50 pts.wt. zirconia powder containing a zirconia stabilizer is blended with 20-50 pts.wt. flexible binder to form a refractory sheet having flexibility at ordinary temperature. Then the refractory sheet is laminated in roll form or stepwise form. The flexible binder includes e.g., emulsion of vinyl acetate resin, ethylene glycol or glycol.
