PRODUCTION OF CARBOXYL GROUP-SUBSTITUTED AROMATIC HYDROCARBON

摘要

PURPOSE:To obtain the title compound with small consumption of solvent and efficiently by using a benzene as a solvent and oxidizing an alkyl group- substituted hydrocarbon with molecular O2 in the presence of both a specific oxidizing catalyst and a specific acid catalyst in a liquid phase. CONSTITUTION:An alkyl group-substituted hydrocarbon such as p-xylene is oxidized with molecular O2 in 1-20 times as much a solvent such as a benzene e.g., benzene or nitrobenzene as the alkyl group substituted hydrocarbon by weight in the presence of both an oxidizing catalyst selected from a heavy metal compound such as acetylacetonato of heavy metal such as Co or Mn and a bromine compound such as tetrabromoethane and an acid catalyst selected from an aromatic carboxylic acid such as benzoic acid or naphthoic acid and alicyclic acid at 150-270 deg.C under 5-55kg/cm<2>G for about 20-180 deg.C in a liquid phase to give the aimed compound such as terephthalic acid.
