NEW MATERIAL:A diether compound shown by the formula (n is 2-6; R is halogen or alkoxy). EXAMPLE:1,4-Bis-P-fluorophenoxybutane. USE:Useful as an additive effective for various kinds of recording materials. Showing a relatively low-meting point and sharp melting and improving sensitivity in use for heat-transfer system and heat-sensitive recording system. PREPARATION:A corresponding sulfonic ester of alcohol such as toluenesulfonic ester is reacted with a phenol or a corresponding dihalide such as dibromide or chlorobromide is reacted with a phenol to give a compound shown by the formula. Water, alcohol, toluene, etc., are used as a solvent and caustic soda or caustic potash is used as a base. The base acts as a catalyst. |
