PURPOSE:To form a satisfactory image by logarithmically setting the quantity of destaticizing light at the time of continuous operation in response to the light fatigue characteristic of a photosensitive body. CONSTITUTION:A ROM 21 storing a duty ratio table is connected to a microcomputer 20 controlling the destaticizing lamp 27 of the photosensitive drum. The duty ratio table stores the lighting duty ratio of the lamp 27 corresponding to a continuous operating period after a dormant period. The dormant period is classified to 10 stages, each of which increases exponentially, and the operating period increases exponentially according to the dormant period. In such a way, the quantity of destaticizing light (lighting duty ratio) changes logarithmically. It corresponds with the fatigue and restoration characteristics of the photosensitive body, and the quantity of destaticizing light from the lamp 27 decreases exponentially as the operating period passes, and also corresponds with the fatigue and restoration characteristics of the photosensitive body. Thus, excess control never occurs, and the surface potential of the photosensitive body can be kept constant, thereby forming an excellent image. |
