PURPOSE:To obtain an odorless high-polymerization degree polymer improved in thermal stability esp. heat discoloration by low-temperature polymerization of a vinyl chloride monomer using, as a polymerization initiator, bis(phenoxyacetylperoxy)-diisopropylbenzene. CONSTITUTION:The objective polymer with a polymerization degree of >=1,500 can be obtained by polymerizing, at <=50 deg.C, a vinyl chloride-based monomer using, as a polymerization catalyst, alpha,alpha'-bis(phenoxyacetylperoxy)-1,4- diisopropylbenzene. This initiator can be prepared by reaction between alpha,alpha'- dihydroperoxy-1,4-diisopropylbenzene and phenoxy-acetyl fluoride catalysed by, e.g., sodium hydroxide. |
