PURPOSE:To prevent damage to an optical fiber by forming a horse shoe type slot to a step formed to an outer face of an end face plate so as to allow the optical fiber to keep a prescribed radius of curvature or over in the slot. CONSTITUTION:A step 30 swollen outward is formed to the outer face of an end face plate 13, a semi-circular or horse shoe type slot 31 is formed to the step 30, and means 34, 35 are provided, which places optical fibers 20, 21, 22 drawn from the end face plate 13 once from one end of the slot 31 to the other end and hold the optical fibers into the slot 31. while the optical fibers from the end face plate 13 are guided at least till the other end of the slot 31, the optical fibers keep a prescribed radius of curvature or over. Thus, no excess tension is exerted to a part of the optical fiber just after being drawn from the end face plate 13 of the unit, having been most susceptible to a tensile strength or a stress. Thus, damage to the optical fiber such as a broken optical fiber is prevented. |
