PURPOSE:To increase mechanical strength and washing durability of a filter by manufacturing a filter with small-gage sintered-metal wires with its surface coated with ceramic formed by chemical vapor-phase reaction process or a film of anti-corrosion metal. CONSTITUTION:A non-woven cloth sintered material of 78% void content and 1mm thickness is manufactured with stainless fibers, and said non-woven cloth is coated with TiN by the chemical gaseous reaction process. The thickness of TiN thus formed is approximately 0.5mum and uniform all over respective sections. Compression strength of a filter coated with TiN is increased, and resistance to corrosion at the time of washing is also increased. As for the material to which the chemical gaseous phase reaction is applied, various materials are used, and in order to increase strong acid properties and resistance to corrosion to strong alkali, ceramics of nitride such as TiN or the like and oxide such as Al2O3, TiO2 or the like are used. In case elasticity at the high temperature is stressed, alloy of Mo, W or the like of superior mechanical strength and resistance to corrosion is used. |
