PUTREFACTION AND ANT-PREVENTING AGENT FOR WOOD

PURPOSE:To provide a putrefaction and ant-preventing agent having a reduced toxicity against men and livestock and having both putrefaction and ant- preventing effects by containing an alkyldimethylamine tetraborate salt or a hydrate thereof as an active ingredient. CONSTITUTION:A putrefaction and ant-preventing agent for wood contains an alky dimethylamine tetraborate salt of the formula (R is 8-20C alkyl) or a hydrate thereof as an active ingredient, the agent having a growth-inhibiting effect against wood-decaying fungi such as Laetiporus versisporus, Serpula lacrymans and Polyporales coliolus and simultaneously and insecticidal force against white ants such Japanese white ants and having a reduced toxicity against men and livestock. The active ingredient can be used as such but usually used in a form of an oil agent prepared by emulsifying the ingredient in water of dissolving the ingredient in an appropriate organic solvent. The active ingredient may be used after mixed with an aqueous emulsion or solvent type coating.
