PURPOSE:To lower the power consumption of a printer to reduce a running cost and a power supply circuit cost by a method wherein a manual auxiliary drive means is mounted for starting the printer, and if the printer fails to start only by electrically conducting a motor, the start of the printer can be ensured by actuating said auxiliary start means. CONSTITUTION:A start spring 10b is directly connected to a manual button 11 and the other end thereof is engaged with a start ratchet 10a. When an operator pushes the button 11 by receiving an indication, the ratchet 10a directly connected to a motor 2 starts rotating and, just thereafter, the motor 2 is electrically conducted. Then, a printer 1 is restarted from an abnormal stop state. After the restart of the printer 1, the button 11 is returned to a retracted position by the pressing force of a spring 16. In addition, because the ratchet 10a rotates in a direction of releasing the spring 10b during the rotation of the motor 2, there is no operational trouble. |
